On November 28th 2004, I had a huge birthday party for Tanner. It was a nice chance for us to celebrate after what had been a VERY difficult couple of months.

I always thought about Tanner's brother "Wizard" and how he was doing. I'd never seen him, and I always at least wanted a picture. When we had that birthday party, I lit an extra candle on Tanner's cake because I knew "Wizard" was out there somewhere. I wondered if he knew it was his birthday.

So, during that birthday party, one of our friends said to my Josh, "so! when ya gettin' another one?" meaning, when are we getting another IG.

Mortified, Josh said "NO WAY! We 've had WAY too many problems with this one, and I just can't go through it all again-it's too heartbreaking."

Then he went on to say, "The only way I'd get another one is if his (Tanner's) brother became available, but that will never happen."

The next day was Monday. About 6pm my phone rang. It was my friend Linda who is friends with the folks where we got Tanner.

I recall the conversation went something like this:

"Hello?"

"Guess WHAT!" Linda screamed.

"I give up" I said.

"I've got another Iggy for you! Remember Tanner's brother Wizard???"

No lie, I LITERALLY dropped the phone and my jaw was on the floor! I hung up with Linda and IMMEDIATELY called Josh who was at work.

"Hello?"

"Remember yesterday when you said the only other ig you'd get would be Tanner's brother?"

"Yeah"

"Well, looks like we're going to be parents again!"

We decided that we'd do a "trial run" with Wizard, just as we had done with Tanner. Meaning, he could stay with us for a week, and we'd see how it went. We didn't know what to expect, if they'd get along, if Wizard would have all the same problems Tanner does, etc.

Tuesday came and all day at work I was BUZZING with anticipation. I couldn't wait. When I got home, I paced the floors, made lots of phone calls, ANYTHING I could do to pass the time. I remember talking on the phone to Josh's sister....telling her I felt like an expectant mom!

I had to drive about an hour away to pick him up. I don't think I ever drove so fast in my life....I could have qualified for a NASCAR race (not that I know anything about NASCAR or racing!) Anyway, Linda met me there. It was cool, chilly that night, but not too cold.

She pulled in, and opened her back door. When I saw him, I just couldn't get over how BIG he was!

Linda picked him up, and put him in my arms. Then he turned his head toward me, looked up at me, and my life has never been the same. I knew right then and there that this guy was here to stay!

"Wizard" has since become "Marley Blue" and having him was the best decision we've ever made.

He's Tanner's sidekick, and has the loudest mouth in the whole neighborhood. Hard to believe such a little dog has such a LOUD roar! You'll know it's Marley....you'll hear him coming from a mile away!
